The President of the State Audit Institution, Dr. Duško Pejović, attended the Contact Committee Meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the European Union and the European Court of Auditors, which took place in Dubrovnik, on 11th and 12th October 2018. State Audit Office of Croatia hosted the meeting.
Main topic of the meeting was "Interaction with EU citizens - opening Supreme Audit Institutions", which was organized through discussions in the form of two sub-sessions "Interaction with EU citizens - a view from the window", and "Innovative approaches of the Supreme Audit Institutions of EU member states in communicating with citizens/stakeholders". Challenges faced by the state audit were discussed at the event, along with possibilities to improve effects of Supreme Audit Institutions.
Speakers at the event were Ms. Grozdana Perić, Chairperson of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Croatian Parliament, Mr. Ivica Tolić, Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Karen Hill, Head of OECD/SIGMA and Ms. Leticia Verite, representative of NGO "Citizens for Europe".
Also, activities of the Contact Committee and professional partners were discussed at the meeting, as well as audits of SAIs members of the Contact Committee in the field of EU. Within the meeting, report was presented on activities of the Network of SAIs of Acceding, Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries and the European Court of Auditors.
Representatives of the EU candidate countries attend the Contact Committee meetings as observers.
Host of the next Contact Committee meeting will be the Supreme Audit Institution of Poland in June 2019.
