Contact Committee Meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union
The President of the State Audit Institution, Mr. Radoslav Sretenovic, pursuant to the invitation of the President of the Court of Auditors of Portugal (Tribunal de Contas), attended the Contact Committee Meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the European Union and the European Court of Auditors, which took place in Estoril, on 18-19th October 2012.

Main topics of the meeting were "Challenges for SAIs in preparing for the next EU financial framework period" and "Latest developments in responding to the financial crisis and SAIs’ experience of related audits". The meeting was the opportunity to share viewpoints on major current topics for SAIs, having regard to the difficult fiscal contexts that most SAIs have recently faced in carrying out their mandates. During the meeting, presentations and discussions were held on fiscal stability, implications of the financial crisis on accounting standards, fiscal policies, as well as on other significant topics. Also, Report was presented on Activities of the Network of SAIs of Acceding, Candidate and Potential Candidate Countries and the European Court of Auditors (ECA), which included the Workshop on Audit of Budgetary Accounts and Consolidated Financial Statements, organized by the State Audit Institution of Serbia in Belgrade, in December 2011.

Guest speakers this year were Algirdas Šemeta, European Commissioner responsible for Taxation and Customs Union, Audit and Anti-Fraud, and Carlos Costa, Governor of Banco de Portugal.

State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia has been participating in these meetings after acquiring the candidacy status for the membership in the European Union in March this year.

Tribunal de Contas of Portugal, in its quality of Acting Chair, organized this event in cooperation with the SAI of Lithuania, next CC Chair, and the European Court of Auditors, former CC Chair.
