SAI Delegation Participated in the Meeting of the EUROSAI Task Force for Audit & Ethics

President of the State Audit Institution and Auditor-General, Dr. Duško Pejović, and Head of the Office of the President, Ms. Iva Vasilić Miljić, participated in the 9th meeting of the Task Force for Audit & Ethics of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), held in Lisbon on 22nd and 23rd October 2018.


During the meeting, experiences were exchanged regarding management of ethics in auditing for the purposes of strengthening integrity, novelties were considered along with potential cooperation with external partners, coordination of activities with related project groups, as well as future plans.


In opening address of the meeting, President of the Portuguese Cort of Audits, Mr. Vitor Caldeira, highlighted that EUROSAI had developed good framework for implementation of Code of Ethics (ISSAI 30) of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI) and for promotion of integrity in the public sector, thanking to seven-years long activities of this EUROSAI Task Force.


Representatives of the State Audit Institution, together with the host SAI of Portugal and European Court of Auditors, participate in development of the model for training on ethics, which represents one of the activities within the Work Plan of the Task Force for the period 2017-2020.


Meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), who presented OECD recommendation on integrity in the public sector. In addition, contribution to the meeting was provided through presentations by the Chairman of the Ethics Board of the Banco de Portugal, President of Transparency Portugal, as well as the Director of the Portuguese Institute of Quality. Among many question raised during the meeting, there was also a discussion on the proposal of the European Directive on Whistleblowers' Protection, as well as ISO standard 37001 regarding Anti-bribery management systems.


Meeting, attended by around 40 delegates from 19 European SAIs and European Court of Auditors, was organized by thePortuguese Court of Audits, who is the Chair of the EUROSAI Task Force.
