Representatives of the State Audit Institution Željko Motić, Senior Advisor in Auditing in the Sector for Audit of Local Authorities’ Budgets, and Radovan Ratković, Independent Advisor in Auditing in the Sector for Audit of Mandatory Social Insurance Organizations, participated in three-day training in IT audit, organized by the Center for Excellence in Finance (CEF) from 18th to 20th October 2018 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Given the importance of IT systems in governmental and budgeting processes, and the fact that the importance of IT systems is rising, the State Audit Institution believes that auditors need to have necessary knowledge and skills in IT system. Therefore, two representatives of the Institution acquainted with identification of IT risks, reviewing IT controls or in other words with assuring that IT systems work well and contribute to the organizational objectives while protecting resources. During the training, participants discussed topics important for IT audit, application controls and IT general controls, IT audit approaches and tools and IT security tools. Special attention was put to IT risks, as our technology advances further, and we are more and more depended on electronic devices, we also have to take in account the many risks that come together with it.
The workshop was attended by IT auditors working in public sector organizations, internal and external auditors who are interested in conducting IT-audits, as well as financial, quality and IT managers, IT project leaders and system analysts.
Participation of the SAI representatives at the workshop was financed with the support of the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), within the project of German- Serbian development organization “Public Finance Reform – Financing Agenda 2030”.
