Representatives of the State Audit Institution participated in the fifth annual meeting of the EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit (EUROSAI TFMA) and the Seminar "Municipal Real Estate Management" held on November 3rd and 4th in Becici, Montenegro, in person and via online platform.
The meeting discussed key irregularities in municipality audits, in the area of real estate management, implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, as well as problems faced by municipalities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants of the meeting also discussed the activities and results of the work of the Task Force included into Work Plan for the period 2020-2021, as well as plans and activities planned for 2022.
The Seminar on "Municipal Real Estate Management", organized during the meeting, included expert presentations and discussions. The seminar also included presentation of the Audit Compendium, prepared by the SAIs of Lithuania and Serbia, which summarizes the results of audits conducted by ten SAIs, members of the Task Force, in the field of municipal real estate management, in the period 2016-2021.
The event was attended by more than 80 representatives from 27 SAIs members of the EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit.
The meeting was organized by the SAIs of Montenegro and Lithuania.
The National Audit Office of Lithuania has been organizing international meetings and seminars on municipal audits since 2013. At the EUROSAI Steering Committee meeting, held in June 2016, the initiative of the Lithuanian SAI was adopted to establish a special EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit , which officially started its activities in 2017.
The State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia became a member of the EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit in December 2016, with the aim of further developing the audit methodology and contributing to the improvement of the municipal audit system, so that audit results lead to positive changes for their residents.
