Now is the right moment to look back and see what has been accomplished, particularly what should be done in the near future, in order to contribute to the overall goal - enabling that the public funds are spent legally, in a prescribed manner and purpose, and with the desired effect.
All key stakeholders in this area, the Parliament, Ministry of Finance and Economy, and/or Central Harmonization Unit and the State Audit Institution have their specific roles in the context. However, in addition to the specific roles, it is important to highlight that the general goal may be accomplished only if all key stakeholders work together in a constructive manner.
Therefore, it is important to review and emphasize the benefits of close cooperation in terms of complementary roles of internal and external audit, as well as mutual responsibilities in the financial control system.
